People should be required to have a license before they have a child.

Phoenix, Arizona- "A woman who found her 1-year-old son dead in her hot, stufffy car after she worked her seven-hour shift as a Hooters waitress has been arrested. Ashley Duchene, 22, was booked into the Maricopa County jail Wednesday on a felony count of negigent homicide. Duchene usually dropped the boy off at a day-care center on her way to work, but failed to do so Tuesday. Instead, she left her son, Ryan Gallagher, in the car when she arrived at the restaurant about 10 a.m., police said. When she returned after her shift at nearly 5 p.m., he was dead."

So, exactly do you ensure that folks have a license before a child...put their privates in lockdown, or maybe rush every 13 year old that gets pregnant through Driver's Ed..and once they graduate give em a booster seat complete with a set of blocks for the pedals?..hmmm..a lil difficult to enforce there..lmaybe though we could have gruesome public executions of offenders...that should work..does in Iran..lol..j/k

I'm not sure I completely understand...but I had already heard of the Hooters waitress that forgot to take her kid to the day care and left him in a car in Arizona for 7 hours and he died...so maybe I wasn't as shocked or had as much of a bleeding heart as you.

i think it just put me over the edge...i read in the coalfield today about a man who had thrown his child down because it wouldn't quit crying...just bothers me when parents don't take responsibility....children are just so helpless and i think grown ups can be selfish.

I took it a little different. I read Glory to mean that you had to have a license to have a license meaning something like a child bearing license not a drivers license.
I don't find news like this shocking anymore, it happens way to often. I don't agree with putting the chity parent through the same thing becasue I don't see it as harsh enough leaving them in a car like that they would pass out first and would never really suffer like they should.

but we require people to have licenses to get married, drive, fish, and hunt...why not one to have children?

But, seriously..how do you ensure something like that?...sew it shut until a license is purchased or pout a cork in it..lol...it's human nature, and some humans aren't very smart.

regardless, it's sad for anyone to harm a child. it's probably the worst crime a human can commit. look at our prison system. maybe some of you correction officers can validate this, but usually convicts that are in prison for child offenses take a beating far worse than convicts that are in for regular offenses.
