i keep wanting to read this series but something just keeps turning me away...i dunno why but today i almost bought it...but then my brain said 10$..ur life savings (too true;_; ) ..do u want to squander it on something u might not like

so anyone want to give a brief synopsis? i tell you what i look...ushi gushi romance...cool fight scenes (like keshin)..pyschological stuff (mpd pyscho)..shonen ai..yaio...what i dont like is tooo much fantasy where they have to find crystals or something...and since i judge books by covers it doesnt spark an interest

so anyone wanna fill me in on what its really about?

This is from tokyo pop website, the brief introduction of Saiyuki:

"It was a time of chaos, when Heaven and Earth were as one, and humans and demons - the youkai - lived together in peace. The foundations of civilization and religion were raised and reinforced in this land of Togenkyo, the paradise known as Shangri-la.

But now, a great evil threatens harmony in this great land. Far to the West, in India, someone is attempting to resurrect the youkai lord Gyumaoh by mixing human science with youkai magic. This forbidden practice has created a Minus Wave of negative energy that is spreading across Shangri-la, poisoning the souls of the youkai and turning them into mindless monsters. The only hope lies in four legendary heroes:

I believe the best part of the comic is the attracting characteristic of the four main characters!! ^o^ You can read the description of each characters from the tokyo pop website.

The TV series does end at episode 50. and Saiyuki Reload is continuing... I think currently at episode 24. [img]smile.gif[/img]

WOW!! You get through them fast! O_O I wish I had a better computer! Y_Y I STILL haven't finished downloading the first four eps of saiyuki reloaded! My first box set it brilliant, but the second one has really crappy translated subs. But BRILLIANT! I have the complete seires then ^_^
And for that one considering buying Sayuki DOOOO!! I'll go through you list of wants and relate it to the characters!

ushi-gushi love: Yes. Hakkai has a love...but me will say no more.

Cool fight scenes: YES!! Oh boy...yes...can't say yes enough cos these four boyz kick ass ^_^ Sanzo has his exsorsizom gun (to kill the demons cos he's only human! ^_^;; ) Hakkai energy bolts that he just happened to make up! Goku his...um...exstending baton stick nybyo that he beats people with...and Gojyo has this...well chain thing with this sharp moon mental thingie...MAH! I SUCK at discribeing! (and spelling)

pyschological stuff: Yes. Much! Goku has quite a bit later on in the seires. Sanzo constantly talks about deep weird stuff...Hakkai...well yes, he is very much so aswell! But you gotta understand I can't say anything without spoiling it! You dun wanna know the secrets!

yaoi/shonen-ai: Well there are hints and you can constantly mislead things ^_^ I always like to make it up in my mind, but these boys though acting loud and fight alot are a lot closer then you think! Specially cutie Goku and sultry Sanzo! Hakkai and Gojyo can go together as well! Oooh so many possibilities to choose! LALALLA!!

HAhahah! Well no crystals, but there's a journey...and lots of people are demons! So kinda fantasy! Anyhoo! being booted off! Bye!

i haf watched the whole series 3 times [img]tongue.gif[/img] ppl usually like to pair up sanzo and goku together, i t hink the two of them are really perfect for each other. and the other pairing is gojyo and hakkai. however, there are other pairings too and one of em is sanzo and hakkai. dis is coz hakkai is the onli person who can talk to sanzo wihout getting shot or hit with sanzo's harisen ^___^ and he understands him perfectly well. and hes usually sanzo's roomate when they are stuck with two rooms.

and denn theres the other yummy bishie. Homura taishi!!!! he's a sanzo lookalike cept for the hair. love his eyes. he's this hentaiyaro whos after goku(get ur hands off sanzo's saru........)

anyways, im new here ^_^ i heard that saiyuki was licensed in the us and renamed paradise raiders. *major sweatdrop* PARADISE RAIDERS?!!!!!

this series is simply rawkz xDDD
about the pairings... umm... I'm more towards gojyo and hakkai ... but mainly...I don't think them as pairs...more like best-buddies....

I LOVE Saiyuki Gaiden, Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload manga and I absolutely ADORE Son Goku! I want to know more about what happened to him in the past!!! XD

Arghh, I so wish that it was Viz or some other manga publisher that licensed it and NOT Tokyopop! Honestly! Paradise Raiders???? *faints with horror* What is their problem anyway, do they really have to rename the titles all the time? [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]

I'm really obsessed over Saiyuki now too~ I didn't like the anime nearly as much as the manga though, because the graphics were THE WORST! I like Sanzo and Hakkai the most~
